The development of research, teaching, and community service are three important aspects for lecturers and educators as part of the Tri Dharma duties in higher education. In addition to being conducted within the internal scope of the university, research, teaching, and community service activities also need to be carried out with other universities, both domestically and internationally. Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta has established various collaborations in these 3 fields with several universities both domestically and internationally. One of the universities within the ASEAN region that has frequently collaborated with UNY is the Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) Malaysia in various activities such as research, visiting lectures, and other institutional partnerships.
Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta and Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris are both higher education institutions that are equally focused on the development of educational studies, both theoretically and practically. This equation becomes a relevant attraction to collaboratively develop research in the field of education and several related sciences. Based on this background, UNY, through the Department of Sociology Education, and UPSI, through the Centre of Pedagogical Research and Innovation (CPRI), initiated an international conference as a platform for lecturer, teachers, students, researchers, and policy makers to share knowledge and insights in order to develop the fields of education and teaching in their respective domains.
This seminar aims to bring together ideas from various perspectives, particularly from neighboring countries (Indonesia - Malaysia), to discuss the transformation of education in the digital era along with the various impacts and changes it brings. Through a series of international seminars, panel discussions, and article presentations, this seminar seeks to encourage critical dialogue, showcase research findings, and follow-up collaboration to enhance the development of educational studies and the quality of learning.
Each participant, consisting of academics and practitioners in the field of education, will collectively contribute their ideas and thoughts to support the transformation of education and adapt to the increasingly complex developments of the digital era. Thus, this international seminar is a manifestation of shared commitment to the development of quality and adaptation in education, serving as a platform for academics and education practitioners in the ASEAN region.
